Careers
Why Work at TES?
Teachers receive a salary supplement 15% above the state salary scale, keeping TES competitive with top schools in the area.
We offer the NC State Health Plan and a 457(b) retirement plan, with TES matching contributions up to 6%.
Additional pay is provided for educators with a Master’s degree and National Board Certification.
Our schoolwide use of the Responsive Classroom approach means less time managing behavior and more time building strong, respectful relationships with students.
General classroom educators are supported in their teaching by being provided a research-based, engaging curriculum to use with students. Rather than writing lesson plans, know your high quality daily plans are ready, and use your knowledge of students to differentiate the plans and tie them into projects.
Small school, real connections
Teaching teams loop with their students for a two year cycle, allowing staff to build strong connections with students. Teachers departmentalize, allowing staff to focus on a subject of strength, and decrease planning time. As a K–8 school with about 380 students and 50 faculty/staff, TES feels personal, supportive, and mission-driven.
Classroom resources you can count on
Every teacher receives a classroom supply budget. Many teachers don’t even use it all thanks to a highly supportive parent community that fulfills classroom wish lists. Teachers also have access to TESCA grant funds for projects and ideas.
Built-in professional growth
Professional development isn’t an add-on—it’s part of our schedule. Early dismissal most Wednesdays at 1:15 PM gives faculty and staff dedicated time for collaboration, learning, and reflection.
