Tammy Finch
Director of Education and Curriculum
Tammy Finch is the founding director of The Expedition School, which opened in 2014. She always dreamed of creating a school where students encounter authentic learning experiences through projects. Mrs. Finch is a National Board Certified Teacher with over twenty nine years experience in education. She holds a Master’s in Teaching. She is trained in the Responsive Classroom methodology and Charter School Leadership and holds current NC teacher certification in Elementary Education, English and Gifted Education. The rare moments when she is not working tirelessly for the school, she enjoys hiking and exploring the natural world. Mrs. Finch lives in Mebane with her husband David and their two sons Brian and Brandon.
Cody Shore
Director of Business and Operations
Cody serves as our Director of Operations and brings a heart for service and community with him. After spending thirteen years as a firefighter, Cody transitioned into education, where he previously served as Director to an elementary school. He holds a degree in Public Administration and is passionate about supporting students, families, and staff in meaningful ways. Cody is married to his amazing wife, Britnye, and together they are raising their two incredible children Nola Mae and Hendricks. Their family lives on a farm with barns full of friendly animals. They love spending time outdoors and working together on lego sets.
Julie McCauley

Aaliyah Chapman holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies, a Master’s degree in Elementary Education, and certifications in grades K–6 and English as a Second Language. She began her career working with students ages 3–21 with autism, where she developed a strong foundation in supporting diverse learners and providing individualized instruction. She later moved into the classroom and then into math and literacy intervention for students in grades K–6. Aaliyah earned a double gold distinction through the Want More, Do More leadership program, which strengthened her leadership and coaching skills and supported her transition into her role today. In her role, Aaliyah most enjoys partnering with teachers to dig into curriculum and data in meaningful ways to support students across all areas of learning. She values collaboration and is passionate about supporting both teachers and students.
Outside of school, Aaliyah enjoys spending time with her husband, Christian, and their two children, Arlo and Cove. She also enjoys reading and listening to true crime podcasts.
