Friday, May 1st will now be a teacher workday, and there will be no school for students.
Many of our staff have requested leave to travel to Raleigh to participate in a statewide event organized by the North Carolina Association of Educators, focused on advocating for a state budget and teacher pay. Due to the high number of absences, we are not able to safely staff all classrooms, even with substitutes. Several nearby districts are making similar adjustments.
The Expedition School already meets state instructional hour requirements, so students will not need to make up this day.
We will offer limited childcare through Sprout from 7:30 to 3:15, with sign-up information being shared via email first thing Friday morning.
