The Expedition School is a Charter School

A charter school is a free, public school. Students are selected to attend the school through the use of a lottery. Charter schools follow the rules and expectations of all public schools. However, charter schools operate under their own charter, or plan, for the education of students. Therefore, you can find a variety of charter schools offering unique programs and offerings for students. The Expedition School is a charter school that is offering a STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) focus through the use of project based learning.

At The Expedition School you’ll find:

  • Project based and Inquiry learning
  • Integration among subjects, including reading and social studies, with a STEM focus
  • Strength focused teaching and learning using multiple intelligences and hands-on engagement
  • Year round schedule
  • Multiage Classrooms (in grades 1-2 and grades 3-4.  Core subjects in grades 5-8 are single graded.  Grades 5-8 have other multiage settings though the day including lunch, recess and specials.)

  • Integrated technology
  • Opportunities for students to develop respect and compassion as well as see themselves as part of a larger community where they can make a difference
